Wichita Eisenhower Airport Sets Record October

Wichita Eisenhower National Airport achieved a new milestone in October by breaking its passenger record for the month. A total of 78,109 passengers took flights from the airport during October, reflecting a notable 7.91% surge compared to the same period in 2022. This figure also represents a 2% increase over the previous record-holder, October 2019, which recorded 76,544 enplanements.

To meet the escalating demand for travel at ICT, airlines responded by adding 12.6% more seats and 6.8% more flights in October 2023, compared to the same month the previous year. This strategic move not only accommodated the growing number of passengers but also emphasized the airport’s pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and convenience for the region.

The airport’s heightened usage has translated into improved service capabilities, evidenced by increased capacity and additional destination options. American Airlines began daily nonstop service to Phoenix in November, Saturday service to Miami, and will begin daily nonstop service to Washington DCA in January.  Southwest Airlines resumed daily service to Las Vegas.  These statistics underscore the indispensable role played by Wichita Eisenhower National Airport in facilitating not only travel but also business and economic activities in the local community and the broader region.
