Allegiant Airlines’ seasonal service to Orlando-Sanford, Los Angeles, and Destin ends August 12. Those routes will return next year around the last week in May or first week in June. The new Destin service has proven to be very popular and we are hoping for a longer season of service next year.
Allegiant will temporarily suspend their service from Wichita to Phoenix-Mesa after August 12 due to a seasonal slow-down. Allegiant will resume the service on October 4. Nonstop service to Las Vegas will continue with twice weekly service.
Allegiant is an ultra low-cost carrier (ULCC). This model flies point-to-point with low or no connectivity. They offer cheap fares and unbundle fees so you pay for what you use. ULCC’s typically fly to leisure destinations 2 or 3 times/week using narrow-body aircraft and fly during seasons of strong demand. Allegiant uses Airbus 319s and 320s in our market with seats ranging from 156 to 180. ULCCs are the fastest growing of all airline models. We see many opportunities for Allegiant in our market.
