A Kansas Department of Transportation project on U.S. 54/400 (West Kellogg) may affect travelers accessing Mid-Continent Airport – at least during some overnight hours in the next few weeks. An asphalt mill and overlay project on the Kellogg Freeway is occurring on Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. or earlier, and at times, access ramps at Kellogg and Ridge Road will be closed for work at the base of those ramps.
The first ramp to the airport affected by this project will be the eastbound Kellogg exit ramp at Ridge Road/Mid-Continent Drive. Tentatively scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday evening July 13 or 14, (weather dependent), the ramp will be closed, the resurfacing completed, and the ramp will open as soon as possible. Message boards will be posted on eastbound Kellogg to advise drivers to use the Tyler Road exit and frontage road to access Mid-Continent Drive and the airport.
Because the project involves resurfacing on both directions of Kellogg, other ramps to and from the airport at Ridge Road will also be affected. Message boards will be used to make drivers aware of the temporary, nighttime ramp closures.
