Short-term limited to four hours, riders encouraged to use PARK & RIDE
Short-term parking at Mid-Continent will be limited to four hours beginning, Friday June 21 due to ongoing construction of a new parking garage and rental car facility.
During construction, any vehicles that remain in the short-term parking lot for more than four hours will be charged the maximum rate of $50. Vehicles remaining in the lot overnight will be towed at the owner’s expense.
“We are excited that the project is now underway, bringing new state-of-the-art parking services and facilities to Mid-Continent,” said Brad Christopher, Assistant Director of Airports. “We know there will be inconveniences, but with a little planning visitors to Mid-Continent should be able to take advantage of services that help get them where they need to go.”
Due to such limited space, there will be no exceptions to these restrictions and fees. All spaces – including those typically reserved for ADA (Americans with Disabilities) customers – will be part of the new fee structure. ADA accessible parking will be provided in the short-term (limited to 4 hours or less), long-term and PARK & RIDE lots.
Construction will begin in the long-term and short-term parking areas around June 28. After this date, and for approximately 16 months thereafter, parking availability in these two parking lots will be substantially reduced. During construction, airport management strongly encourages and recommends travelers to:
- plan ahead
- arrive early
- use the PARK & RIDE lot, where a free shuttle provides curbside service to and from the terminal
- use the free cell phone lot while waiting to pick up an arriving passenger
The airport parking garage and rental car facility is a $40 million project that coincides with a new terminal currently under construction. Both are scheduled to open in spring of 2015.
