July 27, 2015
June was a busy month for Wichita Eisenhower National Airport. In fact, it was the busiest June on record with a total 154,364 passengers, an increase of 6.2% over June 2014. Previously, the busiest June occurred in 2008 with 154,124 passengers. The busiest month overall occurred in July 2007 with 156,560 total passengers using ICT.
The June record is particularly impressive given the fact that there were 23% fewer flights and 7% fewer seats than in June 2008, yet enplanements increased 2% from June 2008.
Factors attributing to the increase include:
· an increase in capacity over June 2014 (2,074 more seats)
· the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships held in Wichita in June
· Passengers wanting to fly in/out of our new terminal
We’re glad to see a 6% increase over last year and thank everyone who used ICT in June.
