Eisenhower Airport Traffic “Leaped” Ahead in February

A new February passenger record was reached this year, with 123,768 total passengers flying in and out of Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.   This was a 15% increase in traffic over last year; year-to-date passengers are up 10.49%.  New service by American Airlines to Phoenix, Miami, and Washington, DCA, as well as Southwest Airlines’ daily service to Las Vegas, have contributed to the growth in travel demand.   Given the fact that this was a leap year, the February record beat out the former leap year record reached in 2020 by 5,149 passengers, a 4% increase.

February 2024 vs. February 2023:

  • 62,034 enplanements, up 15.13%
  • 61,734 deplanements, up 14.56%
  • 123,768 total passengers,  up 14.84%

Year-to-date:

  • 122,880 enplanements, up 10.88%
  • 123,741 deplanements, up 10.10%
  • 246,621 total passengers, up 10.49%

The passenger growth has boosted concession revenue.  Food and gift receipts increased nearly 21%, rental cars 4%, and parking revenue was up a whopping 32%.

Outbound air cargo tonnage increased 7% while inbound tonnage decreased 4%.
