Wichita Eisenhower National Airport has set another milestone, marking its sixth consecutive month of record passenger traffic. In August, 82,798 travelers departed ICT—up 5.71% from August 2024, which previously held the August record. Overall, 168,106 passengers flew in and out of the airport, a 5.44% increase from last year. Year-to-date, total passenger numbers are up 2.43%. The statistical reports can be viewed at Airport Business.
This steady growth in passenger traffic benefits more than just the airport—it provides a significant boost to the local economy. Each visitor passing through Eisenhower Airport contributes to the regional economy by spending money on hotels, restaurants, rental cars, and entertainment. Increased demand for air travel also encourages airlines to add capacity, which improves connectivity for Wichita businesses and strengthens the city’s position as a hub for commerce.
More passengers translate into higher concession sales, more revenue for local vendors, and greater employment opportunities for those working in aviation, hospitality, and tourism-related industries. In August, concession sales for food and gifts increased 16.81% and parking increased 1.52%. Rental car revenue dipped 3.65%.
With six consecutive months of record-breaking traffic, Wichita Eisenhower National Airport is positioned for additional air service. This momentum underscores the importance of strong air service to Wichita’s business climate and quality of life. When you fly Wichita, you help us grow. #IFlyWichita
