Safety Guidelines

The proper operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is critical to the safety of both commercial and general aviation aircraft operating at Wichita Dwight D Eisenhower National Airport (ICT).  All owners are required to understand the many regulations that address drone operations.  The FAA is committed to promoting safe and responsible use of drones and UAS.  There are rules and regulations to follow depending on your mission.  When in doubt please call Airport Operations at 316-946-4710 for additional assistance.

Basics of UAS:

  • Register your drone here
  • Fly your drone at or below 400 feet
  • Keep your drone within your line of sight
  • Be aware of FAA airspace restrictions, for more information visit the FAA’s Airspace Restrictions page
  • If you are flying within 5 miles of an airport, know your restrictions by clicking here
  • Respect privacy
  • Never fly near other aircraft, especially near airports
  • Never fly over groups of people, public events, or stadiums full of people
  • Never fly near emergencies such as fires or natural disaster recovery efforts
  • Never fly under the influence of drugs or alcohol
