Safe Travels to Telluride

Telluride ski resort has repeatedly been voted no. 1 in North American by Conde Nast Traveler and the #1 Best Small Town to Visit in the USA by US News & World Report.   If you’ve been dreaming of a ski vacation, now is the time to plan your trip.  Telluride is one of Southwest Airlines’ new destinations from Denver. Telluride is famous for its uncrowded slopes and lack of lift lines.  Off-mountain, outdoor activities are numerous, varied and unforgettable.

Getting around is easy too. With Lifts 7 and 8 based right in town and a free town-loop bus, Telluride offers easy access to the slopes. In nearby Mountain Village, you can ski in/ski out from just about everywhere. Linking the two towns and the ski resort is the Gondola. The Gondola is a free transportation system taking riders into the mountains, topping out at 10,800 feet before descending the other side. Get out at the top and take advantage of the multiple trails and views, or stay on and enjoy your trip above, and through, the yellowing aspen groves.

Telluride is not just for skiing. The summer and fall seasons are jam-packed with outdoor activities – fly fishing, horseback riding, rafting, and river sports, golf, paragliding, and more. Kids can float through town on inner tubes, while cyclists and hikers head off in every direction. And above it all, incredible blue skies are breathtaking. It’s a perfect place to rejuvenate after staying home for so many months.

Southwest Airlines will begin seasonal service to Telluride via Montrose on December 20. From there, it’s a 65-mile drive to Telluride.  From Wichita, it’s an easy connection in Denver. Don’t forget – on Southwest, skis fly free. You can also fly United through Denver, and American through Dallas.
