American Airlines Hosts Snowball Express Flight

Date:  November 29, 2012

Media are invited to attend a charitable holiday event for family members of men and women who have died during military service.  The event will be held on Friday, Nov. 30 at Mid-Continent Airport.

The event, called “Snowball Express,” flies local spouses and children of “fallen military heroes” to a charitable event in Dallas where they will join other families who lost spouses and parents – since Sept. 11, 2001 – while serving in the military. Two area families will leave Wichita on a Snowball Express flight and join more than 1,700 other families who lost loved ones to military service for an all-expense-paid visit to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.   Since 2006, Snowball Express has hosted this annual December event to bring these military families together for a few days of fun and friendship. American Airlines is the official airline of Snowball Express.

The two area families will leave Mid-Continent Airport on an American Airlines flight at 11:50 a.m. Friday. Media should go to the American Airlines gate for the event; American Airlines will issue gate passes. Media wishing to attend must call 946-4700 no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29 and provide a name and date of birth.  Journalists should arrive at American’s ticket counter by 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 to receive media gate passes. Additional information about Snowball Express can be found at www.snowballexpress.org.
