Preparing for Your Trip
The Transportation Security Administration offers tips to help you move through the screening process quickly and efficently. Please visit the Transportation Security Administration's website for complete security procedures.
Take a quick survey of all baggage and items that will be carried with you to make sure you are not taking any prohibited items. Please view the complete list of permitted and prohibited items prior to your trip.
You are allowed one carry-on in addition to one personal item such as a laptop computer, purse, small backpack, briefcase, or camera case. To know how to pack items in your carry-on and checked luggage, please visit Packing Tips. It is preferred that you check your luggage because considerable carry-on luggage slows down the screening process.
Remember 3-1-1 when packing your carry-on bag: 3 ounce bottle or less (by volume) of liquids or gels; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure. If you purchase a drink prior to checkpoint, you will not be allowed to carry it through the screening process.
If any items in your carry-on luggage are confiscated by the TSA, do not bring those items back to the airline ticket counter as your luggage has already been processed. A mail service is provided at Sarah's Ice Cream and Cookies.
Limit the number and type of electronic equipment that you carry with you. This includes cellular phones, paging devices, laptop computers, CD players, electronic toys and games. The necessity of screening these devices will create delays passing through the checkpoint. Whenever possible, place these items in your checked luggage.
Remove all lighters, knives, scissors, and blades of any type or size from your carry-on baggage. You may carry one (1) bag of photographic equipment in addition to one (1) carry-on and one (1) personal item through the screening checkpoint. The additional bag must conform to your air carrier's carry-on restrictions for size and weight. Please confirm your air carrier's restrictions prior to arriving at the airport.
Place identification tags in and on all of your baggage. Don't forget your laptop computer.
If you have a medical condition or disability, prepare in advance by visiting Traveling with Disabilities and/or Medical Conditions. Please allow a little extra time to proceed through the screening process. If you need a wheelchair, please reserve one at the time of making your airline reservation.

Children Flying Alone
A new booklet from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) provides advice to the parents of children who must travel alone by air. When Kids Fly Alone notes that while there are no DOT regulations governing unaccompanied minors on airlines, the carriers have various rules on the ages of children they will allow to travel alone and special procedures they use to safeguard children who are traveling without an adult.
Parking at the Airport
No vehicle can be left unattended within 300 feet of the terminal building. Any vehicle left unattended will be ticketed and may be towed.
Vehicles are no longer allowed to park and wait for arriving passengers. If your party is not at the curb, you will need to loop around and come back. Or, you can take advantage of the one-half hour of FREE parking in the short-term parking lot.
Pick-up and drop-off in front of the building is still allowed, but the vehicle must be attended at all times. No exceptions. Violators will be ticketed and may be towed.
Please refer to the parking maps and fees found on this web site.
Arriving at the Airport
Airlines in Wichita are asking passengers to arrive at the terminal 90 minutes to two hours before departure, depending on time of day (early morning flights and mid-afternoon flights are the busiest times.) However, if your flight is at or before 6:00 a.m. it is not necessary to arrive until shortly before your ticket counter opens. Ticket counter hours are listed here.
If your departure is at or before 7:00 a.m., you are advised to be in the checkpoint line before 6:00 a.m. as this is a peak time of day for travel from ICT.
It is important to verify departure times with your airline. This time frame may also vary at other larger airports, so be sure to check with the airline regarding other cities. Airline toll-free phone numbers are listed at Airline Information.
A government-issued photo ID is required when you check in. You may be asked to produce this ID again at other stages of the check-in process. Be prepared to show ID, as well as your boarding pass.
The Courtesy Crew is on-hand to help with information and directions. Look for the bright red jackets.
Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the terminal building.
Do not leave luggage unattended or accept packages or other items from someone you do not know.
Do not make jokes about weapons or explosive devices. Comments of this nature, made even in jest, can result in civil fines and penalties.
